2011: Dr. Fred Roth spoke about ethnobotany of the southwest with a focus on the management of California landscapes before European contact.
Also during 2011, we conducted a series of Mature Tree Care workshops with outstanding speakers, including John Kabashima, Dr. James Downer, Rebecca Lata, Dr. Fred Roth, and Dave Roger.
2010: The IUFC held a workshop about tree pathogens and lab sampling techniques, which was given by Paul Santos of Soil and Plant Laboratories, Inc., and held at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden.
During 2009, a Structural Tree Training Workshop was held at the Sims Tree Learning Center. Jim Borer of Arlington Tree Farm provided an informative program with hands-on training.
In 2007, the IUFC conducted a one day seminar on the The Role and Value of Palms in the Urban Forest. Program speakers included A. James Downer, Ph.D., Donald R. Hodel, Dennis R. Pittenger and others.
